FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fort Erie, ON - January 6, 1998 - The Freight Carriers Association of Canada (FCA) and the North American Transportation Council (NATC) announce the release of their new TL Spot Quotes for Windows™. This PC based software product was specifically designed for companies pricing Truckload and/or partial load shipments. TL Spot Quotes for Windows™ combines the automation of price calculation and the production of professional looking quotes with the ability to store, retrieve and manage individual quotes.
TL Spot Quotes for Windows™ automates price development by using either the program’s default service times and cost values or individual carrier cost factors to calculate a compensatory price. Once an origin/destination pair has been entered, the user can easily identify common shipment characteristics. The calculated price can be accepted or overwritten due to market conditions, lane imbalances or other factors. Default cost values and time estimates can be overwritten for individual shipments or replaced with values reflecting actual company historical data. Shipment charges can also be developed by entering a desired cents per mile. Miles are determined automatically from the program’s proprietary mileage database or, using the optional interface, from the ALK PC*Miler.
Once the price has been finalized, the quote functions included in TL Spot Quotes for Windows™ allows for the quick and easy preparation of professional looking quotes. Use of a fax modem permits the finished quote to be faxed directly from the PC.
TL Spot Quotes for Windows™ also contains rate quote management tools to end the frustration of misplaced or lost quotes. Stored quotes can be retrieved by phone number, customer name or quote number.
An evaluation copy of TL Spot Quotes for Windows™ is available upon request. Carriers, brokers, and other firms involved with pricing of Truckload and partial load shipments are encouraged to contact FCA/NATC for their copy or surf over to website: http://www.fca-natc.org.
