FREIGHT RATE INCREASE OF 5.5% IS RECOMMENDED
Fort Erie, ON, July 5, 2001 – Major cost increases in labour,
insurance, equipment, and e-commerce investments are compelling general
freight carriers to consider a rate increase. This rate increase
is urgently needed to keep the industry from returning to low margins that
do not allow sufficient funds to ensure its future viability...

NATC FILES AN INCREASE AVERAGING 4.7% ON US-CANADA
CROSS BORDER TRUCKING RATES
Buffalo, NY, August 4, 2000 – Carriers engaged in US-Canada
cross border traffic have enjoyed steady freight volume growth since the
passing of the Free Trade Agreement and the North American
Free Trade Agreement. This increased volume has not in the past translated
into improved profitability and, until this past year, profit margins have
been razor thin. During this past year, margins have improved but
not to the point where the industry can absorb the important cost increases
with which it is now face. (more)

A 5.5% RATE INCREASE IN FREIGHT RATES IS RECOMMENDED
Fort Erie, ON, July 28, 2000 – The general freight carriers
have enjoyed increased freight volumes and improved financial performance
over the past year. This is good news for an industry that, since
deregulation in the late eighties, has been plagued with razor thin margins,
declining volumes and, excess capacity. However, lurking behind the
good news there are tremendous challenges which, unless addressed promptly
by the trucking industry and its’ customers, will place the truckers’ future
viability at risk resulting in shippers experiencing more difficulty in
getting their goods to market.

FUEL PRICES SOARING AGAIN - MOTOR CARRIERS NEED INCREASED
FUEL SURCHARGES
-
Fort Erie, ON -January 27, 2000 - Already enduring a fuel crisis,
motor carriers are faced with another steep fuel price increase of 5 cents
a litre or more. Fuel prices are up again because of high crude oil prices
caused by OPEC's production cuts and cold weather. The Freight Carriers
Association of Canada (FCA) who monitors fuel prices on an ongoing basis
reports that since July some carriers have increases as high as 50% on
their base fuel price. Indications from many sources are that prices will
continue to rise.

LES TAUX DE TRANSPORT DES ENTREPRISE DE CAMIONNAGE ONT UN URGENT
BESOIN D'AJUSTEMENT
-

-

TRUCKING COMPANIES ANNOUNCE 4.9% RATE INCREASE
-
Fort Erie, ON. August 16, 1999 - Despite a booming economy and improved
freight volumes, general freight carriers revenues have not kept pace with
operating costs. The latest information available from Statistics Canada
shows that general freight carriers' tonnage and ton-miles have gone up
7% while revenues lag with only a 2% year-over-year increase. Quarterly
financial surveys conducted by FCA reveal similar patterns with the trend
continuing through the first quarter of 1999. The major causes for the
revenue shortfall are:...

Fort Erie, ON., September 4, 1998 - Despite increased volumes
beginning with the third quarter 1997, truckers' earnings continue to fall
